Dear Member,
Another year has nearly passed and it will soon be time for our AGM again in November. I hope you agree that this has been a good year for our twinning group and that you enjoyed the visit to France in May. Sue and I have been involved in two subsequent twinning visits to France since our May visit.
Visits to Perros-Guirec
We visited Perros-Guirec again in early September and attended their Forum des Associations, an event where all of the social groups in the area have an exhibition stall for the local people to come and decide which organisations that they would like to join. We also met the deputy mayor, who said that he was thinking about coming to Teignmouth next year. Then at the end of September we were invited to attend the 60th anniversary of the Rotary Club of Morlaix, which has been twinned with the Rotary Club of Teignmouth for many years.
Next year’s French visit to Teignmouth has now been confirmed. It will take place between the 17th and 20th of May. More details about the programme will be known in the New Year.
New Year Lunch
This has been booked to take place on 14th of January at the Langstone Cliff Hotel in Dawlish. We will be publishing the menu and prices shortly.
New Draft constitution
Our constitution has not been updated since 1979 when it was first produced, except for a simple date change when it was first introduced to our very first web site. This year we have tried to update it and you will find a copy attached to this newsletter. Please read it carefully as the intention is to ask you to vote at the AGM on whether it is suitable to be approved by you.
Annual General Meeting
This will be held on 24th November at 7:00pm in Bitton House. Please be on time.
The agenda for the AGM will be:-
1 Minutes of the Last AGM
2 Chairman’s Report
3 Treasurer’s Report
4 Approval of Draft Constitution
5 Election of Committee for the Next Year
6 Any Other Business
Nomination for Committee Membership
This year some of the existing Committee Members will be standing down so please consider being nominated to take their places so that our Twinning Association can continue to flourish into the future. You will find attached to this newsletter a Nomination form with instruction on how to complete it, and where to return it.
Dutch Supper
The meeting will be followed by a Dutch supper so please bring something that you can share with others. Wine and soft drinks will be available on the evening. We look forward to seeing you there.
