Firstly on behalf of myself and the committee, we wish you a Happy New Year.
Last year was very successful, and we look forward to our forthcoming events for 2011 being even better
New Year Lunch at the Langstone Cliff. I think those of us that attended this event, and there were 26 of us this year, had a very good lunch. The music and the general ambiance provided a very relaxed and pleasant occasion.
Quiz Night at the Yacht Club Thursday 24th February. Please Arrive 7:00 for 7:30pm
This Year Don Harrison has kindly offered to organise the quiz.
This will be a light-hearted affair for teams of up to six players and you will be welcome to bring your own friends and family to make up the numbers, or otherwise just join in with other Twinners. Questions will generally be of the General Knowledge or Pot Luck variety.
The quiz will take the form of the teams ‘racing’ boats round a board laid out as a dinghy race course. Don Harrison will be quizmaster and will explain the rules and move the boats round the board for us. Small prizes for the first three boats home!
The Club bar will be open, but can you please bring something for our usual ‘bring and share’ buffet, and it would help with clearing up afterwards if you can bring your food contributions on disposable plates as we have no access to do washing up.
Dutch Supper & Music Night 31 March 2011. This is an evening arranged by Margaret Sheppard which includes French songs by Rene Wyndham who will also provide song sheets so you will be able to sing along. It was suggested it should also include a Dutch supper. The detailed content for this evening will be discussed at our next committee meeting. We will let you know all in the next newsletter.
Visit to Perros – May 2011
The dates for this visit are 27 May to 31 May 2011. The Brittany Ferry schedule seems to be more stable now and the dates above are confirmed with the French Twinning Team.
We will be travelling to France on the overnight boat leaving Plymouth on Friday 27th May and returning to the UK on Tuesday31 on the day boat. We will send you details of cost etc. as soon as we have them.
